New Focus This Summer For Round Britain eRIB Challenge

The Round Britain eRIB Challenge team has today announced a revised focus for this year, as they dedicate their efforts to supporting their partner boat builder through sea trials for the Challenge vessel. While the full event is now postponed until 2024, due to delays in the production schedule, this shift allows the team to gather comprehensive performance data during extensive sea trials. This valuable information will then be integrated into the planning for next year’s Challenge, enabling the Locations and Meet and Greet teams to publicise a more informed schedule to support this exciting event.

These will broaden engagement and support within schools, colleges, youth groups and home school educators, enabling a greater understanding of some of the more technical elements of the Challenge.

Round Britain eRIB Challenge 2023 plans for a 17 year old to circumnavigate Britain in an electric RIB.

The Round Britain eRIB challenge is a not-for-profit event which aims to support the marine industry’s transition to electric propulsion for leisure and small commercial craft. To do this a 17 year old skipper from Taunton, Somerset will attempt to drive an electric boat around Britain in Summer 2023. Setting off from Lyme Regis in Dorset, the team will be using a unique combination of shoreside infrastructure and on-water charging.

The Round Britain eRIB challenge aims to support the marine industry’s transition to electric propulsion. To do this a 17 year old skipper will attempt to drive an electric boat around Britain. In support of the Challenge, ROLEC Services Ltd. are pleased to offer a Direct Sales service to the Round Britain eRIB ‘STOP Locations’, thereby supporting the development of necessary shoreside infrastructure.
About
The Round Britain eRIB challenge is an environmental project aiming to support leisure and small commercial operators in the marine industry in their transition to a more sustainable future. The Challenge involves a 18 year old RIB skipper attempting to drive an electric boat around the coast of Britain in Summer 2024. This will demonstrate the capabilities of electric propulsion systems for use in UK Coastal waters.
